Community events and programming: At all First Round events and cohort-based programming, we try extremely hard to bring together as diverse a group as possible. With Angel Track for example, we’re proud that we’ve built one of the most diverse angel investing groups out there. Across nearly 100 members and 6 cohorts, 46% of partic****nts were women and 19% have been from underrepresented backgrounds. By being conscious and intentional about how we expand our community in these ways, we hope to make First Round more approachable for founders from all backgrounds. (2) |

But there are a few other things we haven’t seen written about or discussed to death that end up mattering a lot: |
| 9 |
Delayed gratification. |

Admit unknowns. |

The founder who volunteers their ignorance has far more credibility |

But we believe that founders shouldn’t have to try to predict how (and whether) their existing investors will support them in the next round. |
